On Friday, 28 August 2015, the North West Provincial Legislature will be hosting the Legal Fraternity Sectoral Parliament under the theme “the Role of legal systems and frameworks in safeguarding the rights of communities in the North West Province” at the Robega Community Hall in Rustenburg at 10h00am.
The Legislature re-enforces the commitment to deepen the culture of participatory democracy and good governance which is central to oversight and accountability through providing platforms such as sectoral parliaments.
The objective of the event will focus on soliciting challenges related to legal rights of the communities such as children’s rights and Criminal activities, Human Rights and understanding the law; and the effectiveness of the Justice system, taking the cue from the declaration that that 2015 is a Year of Freedom Charter and Unity in Action to Advance Economic Freedom.
Different stakeholders from the Rustenburg and Bojanala municipalities, Public Protector, Legal Aid SA, Department of Justice, National Prosecuting Authority, Public Service Commission, Private Lawyers and South African Police Service have been invited to attend the event.
