The North West Legislature to host feedback session on concerns previously raised at the Arts and Culture Sectoral Parliament
In celebration of the Heritage month, the North West Provincial Legislature will be hosting a feedback session on the Arts and Culture Sectoral Parliament 2015 on Wednesday, 30 September 2015 at Borolelo Community Hall in Swartruggens at 9h00.
The feedback session is as a result of the concerns raised by participants in the previous Arts and Culture Sectoral Parliament held on the 14 September 2014 under the theme: “the Role of Arts and Culture in moving South Africa forward”.
Amongst some of the issues raised was the limited role of the Department of Arts and Culture in addressing skills development in the sector, limited access to Arts and Culture programmes, lack of importance and awareness of artists as a pillar in the province and also discuss the 2015/16 Budget adjustment process used to address financial issues raised in the 2014 Arts and Culture Sectoral Parliament.
As part of rebranding, repositioning and renewing the Bokone Bophirima province, the department will be expected to respond on issues raised to enable an effective role of oversight and public participation and ensure that government plays its proper role of service delivery.
Stakeholders expected to form part of the event are all Arts and Culture service point representatives in all districts and senior officials from the Department of Arts and Culture.
