North West Legislature to Conduct Public Hearings on National Management on Air Quality Amendment bill, Intergrated Coastal Management Amendment bill, Legal Metrology bill and Marine Living Resources Amendment bill
On Thursday, 6 February 2014, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism will be conducting public hearings on the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Amendment bill, National Environmental Management: Integrated Coastal Management Amendment bill and the Legal Metrology bill.
Subsequently the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will also be conducting public hearings on the Marine Living Resources Amendment bill on the said date in the Legislature Chamber at 10h00.
Amongst others, the National Management bill on Air quality seeks to amend the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004 so as to substitute certain sections; to provide for monitoring, evaluation and reporting on the implementation of an approved pollution prevention plan.
The National Environmental Management: Integrated Coastal Management bill seeks to amend Integrated Coastal Management Act, 2008, to amend certain definitions; the Legal Metrology bill seeks to provide for the administration and maintenance of legal metrology technical regulations in order to promote fair trade and to protect public health and safety and the environment.
The Marine Living Resources Amendment bill seeks to amend the Marine Living Resources Act, 1998 so as to insert, amend or delete certain definitions, to make provision for measures relating to small-scale fishing.
