The North West House of Traditional Leaders (NWHTL) will today, 25 June 2013 until Friday 28th hosts its 4th sitting of its 5th term at the house of Traditional leaders at Old Parliament Building in Mahikeng.
The North West House of Traditional Leaders which has a composition of 24 members has been established in terms of the Traditional Leadership and Governance Framework Act 41 of 2003 and the North West House of Traditional Leaders Act No. 3 of 2009.
The sitting will among other things afford members of the House to discuss matters that are pertinent to traditional leadership in the province, such as the debate on the Premier’s speech, and deliberations around challenges.
Members of various committees will also provide feedback on progress they have registered in the portfolios of their areas of work. The four (4) portfolios are:
- Constitutional development
- Social development, gender, children, aged and people with disability
- Tradition, customs and culture
- Land affairs, agriculture and economic development.
