North West hosts first Annual Agricultural Show, 24 to 27 Nov

The North West Province is set to realise and deliver on one of the key commitments and yet another milestone in an effort to rebrand, reposition and renew Bokone Bophirima. MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development, Manketsi Tlhape together with Premier Supra Mahumapelo will jointly lead the launch of the inaugural North West Agricultural Show. The hosting of this show was pronounced by MEC Tlhape during her 2015/16 Budget Speech delivery.

The Agricultural Show is aimed at creating an enabling platform for government, private sectors, farmers, entrepreneurs, service providers, students as well as school learners to showcase agricultural capabilities around the province's agricultural competitive and comparative advantage through the value chain. Through the show, the department is creating a platform for producers to showcase their produce as well as suppliers of inputs to display their products.

The show which is set to draw stakeholders from national and global spheres will create an opportunity for these role players to network and exchange information.

Key to the Agricultural Show is to afford strategic partners an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to ensure the agricultural sector transformation. The department has therefore invited strategic partners to pledge resources including Finance and infrastructure to ensure attainment of Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development (YARD) purpose and objectives.

The support should be centred around the four departmental programmes mainly: Crop Production, Livestock Production, Horticulture and Floriculture and Aquaculture and Fisheries within the entire value chain.

The Show will also see the official launch of MEC Legacy Agribusiness Enterprise Development for Young people and Women, this to ensure economic emancipation of young and women.
