Oral Health Practitioners from across the North West Province will on Friday, 31 July 2015 converge in Mahikeng, Provincial Health Offices for a one day Oral Health Seminar.
The seminar will be used as platform to learn and share insight in exploring the skills necessary for oral health officers in the province to become better in their own field. The seminar will also focus on changing dynamics in oral health care in general including the latest technologies offered in today’s prevention strategies.
Topics to be discussed during the seminar include the following:
- Prevention and treatment of oral health diseases
- Oral manifestation of HIV/AIDS
- National Health Insurance
- Latest technologies offered in today’s prevention strategies
Oral diseases remain a major public health problem in South Africa because of their high prevalence, severity, and impact on the individual quality of life. Currently in the province, oral health services are being provided in all community health centers and hospitals while mobile dental clinics are being utilized to provide outreach services at schools, clinics and mobile points.
