North West Government embarks on service delivery activities, 17 to 18 Sept

It’s all systems go for Setsokotsane activities in Ventersdorp Local Municipality

Departments and other service delivery entities in the Bokone Bophirima Province will for the next two weeks focus their energies towards improving the lives of Ventersdorp Local Municipality communities by implementing phase one of Setsokotsane programme in this municipality.

Setsokotsane, a service delivery oriented programme which communities have hailed as the most effective approach to fast-tracking delivery of services, was successfully implemented at three other local municipalities of Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality since the beginning of August.

As part of this programme, the Ventersdorp Local Municipality will tomorrow, Wednesday 16 September, hand-over about 200 houses in Toevlug location, turn the first sod for construction of 244 houses at Tshing Ext 7 and intensify the cleaning of illegal dumping sites in Boikhutsong, Goedgevonden and Tshing areas.

Some of the activities to be implemented by various departments this week will include amongst others, fixing of high mast lights, patching of potholes, blading of roads, meetings with unemployed youth and graduates, advocacy to parents and care givers on early childhood development, health screening, verification of indigent registrations, monitoring of housing projects, animal vaccination at various farming areas, processing of applications for Smart ID cards at different high schools and social grant services.

In encouraging communities in this Local Municipality to embrace efforts made to accelerate and improve delivery of services, the Acting Premier of Bokone Bophirima Province MEC Wendy Nelson said the Provincial Government is content that Setsokotsane is fast attaining its intended objectives, and that its impact continued to be felt at all areas it was taken to.
