Collaboration of Provincial World AIDS Day commemoration and ASDP Thuntsha Lerole in Naledi Local Municipality
The North West Provincial Government will on Friday, 01 December 2023 join the country and global community in commemorating World AIDS Day under the theme: “Let Communities Lead”. The commemoration which will be integrated with the Accelerated Service Delivery Programme (ASDP) – Thuntsha Lerole, will be held in Vryburg, Naledi Local Municipality, at Phola Park in Huhudi township.
Premier Kaobitsa Bushy Maape who is also the Chairperson of the Provincial Council on AIDS has delegated Leader of Government Business and MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Nono Maloyi, to lead the day’s activities.
This year’s World AIDS Day theme is centered on investing and strengthening community-led interventions and approaches in the management of HIV. It further highlights the importance of greater civil society involvement in the fight against AIDS.
In line with the Thuntsha Lerole programme, residents of Naledi Local Municipality will be provided with services by various government departments, state-owned entities, as well as the district and local municipalities.
This includes, health education and screening services, clearing of illegal dumping sites across the municipality, distribution of cellphones and routers to principals of local schools.
Furthermore, departments will conduct consumer education and registration of indigents, registration and updating of local businesses details on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), online application for IDs and social support services, consumer inspections and the provision of agricultural support services to identified destitute families.
The Thuntsha Lerole intervention component of the province’s Accelerated Service Delivery Programme seeks to amongst others, ensure accelerated provision of the much-needed basic services to North West communities, mobilise communities to be part of the solution in addressing service delivery challenges and create a platform for constant feedback to communities on progress registered by government in responding to the demands for provision of basic services.
