Newly rehabilitated (N9/7) interchange changes Colesberg landscape

Transport Minister Honourable Dipuo Peters will officially open and launch the newly rehabilitated and realigned National route 9, section 7 (N9/7) from Wolwefontein to Colesberg in the Northern Cape province.

The initiative has greatly improved traffic movement and safety at the junction of the N1 and N9 routes at Colesberg.

The official opening and launch forms part of government’s delivery and rollout of key national infrastructure in the process of improving the lives of the citizens of South Africa.

The N1 is an important national route linking Johannesburg and Cape Town and the N9 is a major link to Port Elizabeth’s vehicle assembly plants and Coega harbour.

Joining the Minister during the official opening and launch will be Northern Cape Premier Honourable Sylvia Lucas, Northern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison Mac Jack, senior national, provincial and Municipal officials, key transport stakeholders, members of the community and the media.

The details of the official launch and opening are as follows:

PART 1
Date: Saturday, 26 April 2014
Venue: Noupoort Combined School (handing over of bicycles to learners by Minister, Premier and MEC)
Time: 08:30 for 09:00

PART 2
Date: Saturday, 26 April 2014
Venue: N9 / N1 Interchange (Official opening and launch by Minister, Premier and MEC)
Time: 10:30

PART 3
Date: Saturday, 26 April 2014
Venue: Kuyasa Sports Ground, Zwelitsha Township (5km from Colesberg town)
Time: 11:30
