New flights between Plettenberg Bay and Cape Town launched

A new flight service between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay will be launched today, 28 March 2014.

CemAir’s flight service will operate between OR Tambo International Airport and Plettenberg Bay with connecting flights between Plettenberg Bay and Cape Town International Airport.

Plettenberg Bay is a popular holiday destination. Currently its nearest airport is George Airport, posing an inconvenience for some travellers.

Alan Winde, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, welcomed the new flights.

“According to the organisers, market research has identified a need for a route between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay. It’s good for tourism, more airlift always benefits the destination. The introduction of this flight service is great news for consumers as additional flights create better pricing,” said Minister Winde.

The schedule will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with flights leaving Johannesburg at 9am and Plettenberg Bay at 4pm.

Connecting flights between Plettenberg Bay and Cape Town depart from Plettenberg Bay at 12pm and from Cape Town International at 2pm.

Tickets are priced from R1,799 one way (all taxes included) for the JHB-Plett route and from R1,449 one way (all taxes included) for the Plett-Cape Town route.

CemAir is a privately-owned airline and all flights will be conducted on a Beech 1900 aircraft from the CemAir fleet.
