A delegation of Members of Parliament from the National Council of Provinces will this week, 9 to 12 September visit the Free State to assess service delivery in the province.
The visit forms part of the annual Provincial Week programme which is aimed at ensuring that Parliament interacts with people directly in efforts to improve oversight over the executive and improve service delivery. Furthermore, the visit is aimed at promoting a closer working relationship between provincial and local government spheres by identifying challenges and creating a platform to clear challenges and promote quality service delivery.
The theme for this Provincial Week is “Together making service delivery work for our people” is a response to President Jacob Zuma’s call for better service delivery to citizens.
As part of the programme, the delegation will visit Dihlabeng local municipality after a briefing by the provincial government on Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday the delegation will visit health care and water treatment facilities in the municipality.
