National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Executive Chairperson Yershen Pillay will address a youth unemployment plenary session at the One Young World Summit currently underway at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
The plenary session is one of many that are taking place at the Summit looking into challenges that are facing global youth, like education, human rights, health and sustainable development.
The Summit officially got underway yesterday following an opening ceremony at the Soccer City addressed by world leaders such as Kofi Anna and Mohammed Yunus. During the plenary session Pillay will outline the South African unemployment challenge, progress that the country has made as well as ongoing interventions to deal with the challenge.
As part of the activities of the day, about 50 Summit delegates will visit a beneficiary site of a young person has received support from the NYDA and is currently running a jewellery manufacturing business in Soweto. Over 1 000 exceptional youth from around the world are taking part at the Summit.
