National Council of Provinces (NCOP) to debate Social Development Budget Vote

The Minister for Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will present the Social Development Budget for debate in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

The details are as follows:
Date: Thursday, 5 June 2013
Time: 15h00
Venue: NCOP Chamber, Parliament, Cape Town

Linked to the NCOP debate, the Minister will also conduct community engagements in Khayelitsha as follows:

  • 5 June 2013 – The Minister will host a breakfast meeting with older persons (70 years and older) to discuss issues affecting them
    and together find ways to improve the quality of life of older persons.
  • 6 June 2013 – The Minister will host an Inter-faith Summit to discuss how faith-based organisations can assist in community development and address challenges in communities, such as abuse of children and older persons, alcohol and substance abuse, dealing with child-headed households, and others.
  • 8 June 2013 – The Minister will host a community Imbizo to raise awareness of the programmes available from the Department of Social Development and to hear from the community how these programmes can be improved to make them more responsive to community needs.

All events will take place at the Khayelitsha Sports Ground.
