National Archive Week

The Department of Arts and Culture’s Archives and Heraldry’s Division invites members of the public to the National Archive Week to be held at the National Film, Video and Sound Archives from 6 -10 May 2012.

The work of the National Archivist includes collection and preservation of records.

Some of the activities include:

  • Making records accessible and promoting their use by the public
  • Promotion of archives and records management and encourage archival and records management activities.
  • Emphasise activities designed to reach out to less privilege societies, make information concerning records by means such as publication, exhibitions and the lending of records.

In order to increase public awareness and access to archival records the National Archives and Records Service Act mandates the Archives to promote the use of archives by the public, hence the hosting of an annual awareness project named National Archive Week.

The daily programme would include a tour around the National Film, Video and Sound Archives and presentations about the National Archives.

Time: 09h00
