Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe to award best performing police stations

Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe will award best performing police stations in the province for the financial year 2011/2012.

The awards will acknowledge the stations that are performing well while identifying those that are not doing well so that they could be assisted.

The province boasts 86 police stations which were evaluated by the department. The police stations will be awarded according to the following categories:

  1. Best performing station managed by Captain to Lieutenant Colonel
  2. Best station managed by Colonel and higher
  3. Best station managed by Female Commander
  4. Station with best functioning Community Policing Forum (CPF)
  5. Best overall station in the province and other regional awards
  6. Best performing cluster

In the same vain MEC Shongwe will recognise and award exceptional performance of programmes and sub-programmes in the department for the previous financial year.

The awards, the MEC said, are about ensuring quality service delivery to the people of Mpumalanga and reducing criminality and road accidents.

Departmental awards include best performing sub programme, best performing programme and MEC’S Special Award.
