The Mpumalanga Department of Education to hold the Provincial South African Schools’ Choral Eisteddfod

The Mpumalanga Department of Education will hold its Provincial South African Schools’ Choral Eisteddfod on 23 to 25 May 2014 at Steve Tshwete District Municipality Banquet Hall (Middleburg). These competitions will begin at 9h00 daily.

Choirs that obtained position one and two in the four district competitions will be participating in this three day spectacle that will aim to entertain, educate and inculcate the desired social cohesion.

This will happen as follows:

Day One: Senior Phase
Day Two: FET Band
Day Three: Intermediate Phase

The South African Choral Music Eisteddfod plays a meaningful role in promoting discipline in our schools as all learners who are participating in music have proved to be discipline because of limited time for other non-important peer activities.

“The South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod is one of the schools’ curriculum enrichment programmes that the department supports as it aims to promote unity, social transformation and cohesion amongst young South Africans”. Said MEC Mhaule

The involvement of learners in extramural activities is an important task as it teaches them discipline, encourages team work and improves time management skills. It also plays an important role in building the learners’ self-esteem.

All media is invited.
