As the 2020 school year calendar gets underway, the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams in collaboration with the Minister of Social Development Ms Lindiwe Zulu will conduct a back-to-school outreach programme in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape.
The outreach programme is part of the 6th administration’s commitment to improve educational outcomes for children in rural and disadvantaged areas and to ensure that no child is left behind because of their family’s economic circumstances.
The Ministers will engage in a number of activities aimed at strengthening an educational system that enables every child to achieve his or her full potential. These will include assessment of the state of readiness for distribution of DTT Set-Top Boxes, service delivery monitoring visits on social grants payment at local South African Post Offices in Mthatha and Mqanduli, official launch of a Vodacom Cyberlab at Dalibaso Senior Secondary School as well as the handover of school uniforms, shoes, stationery and dignity packs at Zwelebango Junior Secondary School.
The programme will incorporate the official opening of an Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Mqanduli.
