Ministers Meyer and Winde to explore economic opportunities in Atlanta

On Friday, 30 May 2014, Western Cape Minister of Finance, Dr. Ivan Meyer and Western Cape Minister of  Economic Opportunities Alan Winde will visit Cape Fruit Coolers.

Cape Fruit Coolers is a cold storage facility operating in the fruit export industry. The site visit aims to highlight the importance of logistics in economic growth and jobs.

The visit takes place on the eve of the Ministers’ departure to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Regional Leaders Summit where they will be marketing Cape Town and the Western Cape as the gateway to Africa for the export industry and exploring other economic opportunities.

Atlanta and the Western Cape both have strong logistics industries. In the Western Cape the logistics sector, together with transport and communications, is worth more than R25 billion.
