Work is underway on the demerger and establishment of a new comprehensive Health and Allied Sciences University into which the MEDUNSA Campus of the University of Limpopo will be incorporated.
In May 2013, the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. BE Nzimande, MP, announced the intention to establish a new health sciences university, and to incorporate the MEDUNSA subdivision of the University of Limpopo into this new institution. Subsequently, a Joint Task Team was constituted to advise Minister Nzimande and the Minister of Health, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi on the demerger and incorporation process.
The Joint Task Team (JTT) has successfully conducted its work, completed its report and presented it to the two Ministers. The two Ministers thus will be reporting back to the University Community on the progress recorded in the JTT Report and the Interim University Council will be announced.
It is against this background that Ministers Nzimande and Motsoaledi will conduct a follow-up visit the University of Limpopo (MEDUNSA Campus) in Ga-Rankuwa and address the University Community in an engagement scheduled as follows:
Date: 22 April 2014 (Tuesday)
Time: 12h00
Venue: University of Limpopo, MEDUNSA Campus, Ga-Rankuwa (Pretoria)
