Sport and Recreation Minister and Deputy Minister will together with Western Cape Cultural Affairs and Sport MEC give their time to the Manenberg community in honour of Madiba on 17 July 2014.
National Ministers are expected to commit to 67 minutes of community work between 14 to 18 July. On the 17th of July 2014, the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Mr Fikile Mbalula and his Deputy, Mr Gert Oosthuizen, will be presenting his budget vote to Parliament at 16h00.
On the morning of 17th July 2014, Minister Mbalula and Deputy Minster Oosthuizen will utilise their 67 minutes of community outreach programme in Manenberg, Western Cape. This will be conducted in partnership with the Western Cape provincial Department responsible for sport.
The activities of the day include the following:
- 7h00 to 11h30 Painting of the crèche at the Salvation Army,
- Coaches clinics for Volleyball, Hockey and 5 A-side Football. These coaching clinics will be for 500 primary and high school learners from all the regions of Manenberg. Of the 500, 120 will be learners from the school holiday project of School Sport Section of the Provincial Department of Sport and Recreation (DCAS),
- There will be an opportunity for the learners to implement the skills that they would have been taught by playing games of Hockey, Volleyball and 5 A-side Football at the Manenberg Greens.
- The Minister will handover sport equipment to three schools, namely Manenberg High School, Redriver Primary School and Downvile Primary School.
