Minister Zweli Mkhize visits Maluti-A-Phofung to engage stakeholders, 3 Apr

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Zweli Mkhize, will visit Maluti-A-Phofung municipality on Wednesday, 3 April 2019.  

The meeting follows ongoing efforts and meetings that Minister Mkhize held with the Maluti-A-Phofung Consultative Committee, looking at the approved Recovery Action Plan which seeks to fast track the turn-around of the municipality. 

The meeting stand as evidence of government's commitment to resolving governance, financial and broader service delivery challenges that continue to plague the municipality. The communities complained about interruptions in water and electricity supply and other key service delivery related challenges. 

Despite a number of key interventions in Maluti, there are still persistent and perennial problems in Maluti and the Minister will engage the various stakeholders to not only receive reports, but also to reflect and mobilise all stakeholders to support the turnaround plan. 

The meeting forms part of COGTA’s Back to Basics Municipal Recovery Programme which intends to ensure efficient and effective functioning Municipalities.
