CoGTA Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize to host MECs and brief media on discussions

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Zweli Mkhize will tomorrow host MECs as part of their regular interaction and will also take the time to brief media about their wide-ranging discussion.

Some of the issues under discussion will include COGTA contribution to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s drive to revive the economy as well as a discussion on water and sanitation master plan.

Announcing the stimulus package at the Union Buildings, President Ramaphosa said: “We also need short term municipal investments to address the challenges that our people face. We have identified 57 priority pilot municipalities in order to unlock infrastructure spending in the short term. This spending will cover, among other things, sewerage purification and reticulation, refuse sites, electricity reticulation and water reservoirs.”

The discussion will also include an update on progress being made to arrest the problem of the killing of councilors.
