The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), Minister Zizi Kodwa in collaboration with the Limpopo Provincial Government will launch the 2023 Heritage Month on Thursday, 31 August 2023, at Moletjie Tribal Authority.
The national Heritage month launch will be hosted under the theme, “Celebrating our cultural diversity in a democratic South Africa.” This year’s theme puts a spotlight on South Africa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage which incorporates African, Asian, and European cultures and traditions.
Hosted in the rich, unique, and culturally diverse province of Limpopo under the leadership of Premier, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, the Heritage Month launch will feature a medley of various components of sports, arts, language, and cultural performances.
During the launch celebration, Minister Kodwa and the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture MEC, Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana will outline a month-long calendar of activities which also includes the Indigenous Games Festival 2023 programme. Minister Zizi Kodwa will also unveil books in honour of five Living Human Treasures.
The national Heritage Month launch programme will commence with a 2km cultural parade showcasing our unique and diverse cultural heritage from the Royal House to the Tribal Authority@10h00.
