Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa to preside over Working on Fire graduation ceremony

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa will on Friday, 23 November 2012 preside over the Working on Fire (WoF) graduation ceremony in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. During the ceremony, the Minister will hand over certificates to the highest achieving cadets.

WoF is an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) sub-programme of the Department of Environmental Affairs. The programme was launched in September 2003 as part of government’s initiative towards job creation and the alleviation of poverty.

WoF addresses the prevention and control of wildland fires, to enhance the sustainability and protection of life, property and the environment through the implementation of Integrated Fire Management (IFM) practices.

There are more than 5 000 beneficiaries currently in the programme.
