Minister Thulas Nxesi conducts site visit and hosts community Imbizo at Gordon's Bay Harbour
Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi cordially invites you on a site visit and an interactive community engagement session to be held at the Gordon’s Bay harbour in Cape Town. The event will be held tomorrow, 10 October 2018.
The purpose of the event is to evaluate the dredging renovations and refurbishment of the harbour and showcase the Department’s commitment in ensuring that South Africa’s harbours are rehabilitated and transformed so as to retain their pristine condition and provide an economic stimulus to the local communities.
The significance of the dredging and renovation programme has yielded a number of positive socio-economic impacts for local communities such as: the creation of job opportunities; development of small harbours in growing the economy as part of Operation Phakisa and empowering local communities by contributing towards poverty alleviation.
The Minister and the relevant stakeholders will engage the members of the media in a media briefing session aimed at articulating the department’s role in refurbishment of the harbours.
