Minister Thulas Nxesi addresses young professionals, 5 May

Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi addresses young professionals on the department's efforts to transform the built environment and boost scarce technical skills

The Department of Public Works is the middle of implementing a Seven-Year Turnaround Strategy to revitalise the branches within DPW. One of the main objectives of the strategy is to transform the country’s built industry and capacitate scarce technical skills in the department.

To address these shortcomings, the department, in collaboration with several stakeholders including the Construction Education Training Agency, has embarked on a multi-pronged programme of supporting a host of young professionals to study diverse technical courses in a number of tertiary institutions throughout South Africa.

The beneficiaries of these programmes are expected to make a huge impact in speeding up the transformation of the construction industry and redressing the imbalances of the past.

Honourable Minister Thulas Nxesi, MP, cordially invites a representative from your media organisation to an interactive discussion and engagement with some of these young artisans in the built industry.
