The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Ms Thembi Nkadimeng will address the 2023 Urban Festival. The Urban Festival is an essential annual event hosted by the South African City Network (SACN) that brings together urban professionals from various sectors to discuss urban development issues and allows for stakeholder networking opportunities.
The 2023 Urban Festival aims to expand on the theme of World Habitat Day 2023, which focuses on resilient urban economies and highlights cities as drivers of growth and recovery.
This year’s urban festival intends to focus on the role of local government in driving development, with the theme “The Working City: Actions for Growth and Recovery (Data as an Enabler for Resilience)”.
This theme speaks to the local government sector’s efforts to make cities work better by ensuring they are functional, efficient, and effective while also using empirical data in their decision-making.
