Minister Susan Shabangu closes Child Protection Week in Free State, 3 Jun

The Minister for the Department of Social Development, Ms Susan Shabangu launched the National Child Protection Week (CPW) campaign on Sunday 27 May 2018 in Pretoria , Gauteng. She will be closing the week long campaign in the Free State, Ladybrand on Sunday 03 June 2018.

The 2018 CPW will be marking the 21th Anniversary of the commemoration of the CPW Campaign. This campaign was initiated in 1997 to raise awareness about the need for communities to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and other forms of violence and ill-treatment.

This year’s theme for the campaign is: “Let Us Protect All Children to Move South Africa Forward”.

The focus of the closing ceremony will be on unaccompanied minors, undocumented children, child labour and children living with albinism. Prior to the closing ceremony, dialogues with children will be conducted as build up activities. The Minister will respond to the outcomes of the dialogues and share the integrated intervention plan during the closing ceremony.
