Small Business Department boosts small businesses in Nongoma and Ulundi (NB: note venue change)

The service delivery machine of the Department of Small Business Development under the stewardship of Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams is, on Tuesday, 20 February 2024, heading to Nongoma and Ulundi to empower small businesses. All roads lead to Kwa-Gqikaza TVET College in Nongoma, KZN.

Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams will first convene a Ministerial imbizo whose objective is to engage SMMEs, Co-operatives, Business Chambers and Forums on small business development issues. The Ministerial Imbizo will be followed by a hand over of machinery and business equipment to informal traders. The hand over is part of the department’s Informal and Micro Enterprise Development Programme (IMEDP), which targets SMMEs owned by women, youth and people with disabilities, in townships and rural areas.

It is anticipated that the Ministerial Imbizo will deal with critical issues such as red tape, access to finance and business development support. It will also address and assess service delivery progress through the implementation of the District Development Model, which enables integrated and responsive planning, implementation and budgeting. The event will also include an exhibition by government departments and showcase opportunities available to SMMEs, aspiring entrepreneurs, women and youth owned enterprises.

The Ministerial Imbizo and handover ceremony will be held as follows:
