Minister Siyabonga Cwele to open new, modern home affairs office and interact with community members
The Minister of Home Affairs Dr Siyabonga Cwele will on Thursday, 28 March 2019 officially open a modern Home Affairs office in Ndwedwe, North of Durban at the iLembe District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.
Minister Cwele is scheduled to open the office in partnership with provincial and local government leaders together with traditional leaders. The new office will offer the new Smart ID Card, passports and all other Home Affairs related services including registration of birth. This intervention will make it easier for citizens from surrounding communities to apply and collect their IDs on time to be able to participate in the coming elections.
In recent years, the Department of Home Affairs has been continuously investing in improving the quality the service it delivers. Opening offices which boast advances technologies responds to the evolving needs of the citizens and also brings services closer to communities. Minister Cwele is also scheduled to partake in a two way conversation with the community of Ndwedwe to unpack the Department’s priorities such as Early Registration of Birth and the management of undocumented foreign nationals.
