Minister Siyabonga Cwele meets his Lesotho counterpart to discuss strengthening cooperation in areas of migration, 28 Jan

Home Affairs Minister Dr Siyabonga Cwele to meet his Lesotho counterpart, Mr Tsukutlane Au, to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in areas of migration 

The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Siyabonga Cwele, and his Lesotho counterpart, Mr Tsukutlane Au, are scheduled to meet on 28 January 2019 at the Maseru Bridge border post. The meeting is aimed at reviewing and taking forward the implementation of current areas of cooperation. These areas include the Lesotho Special Dispensation Project and the Intervention Plan on Traffic Congestion at Maseru Bridge border post.

Minister Cwele’s meeting with Minister Au is in line with South Africa’s new approach to management of international migration and safe movement of people which is articulated in the 2017 White Paper on International Migration. In terms of the new policy and approach, South Africa is prioritizing cooperation with countries in the Southern Africa Development Community.

The two Ministers will also conduct a walk about at Maseru Bridge to monitor operations.
