Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga unveils R 2.4 billion Ashburton Road Interchange Project, 2 May

The Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga, will on Tuesday 2 May 2023 officiate at a sod-turning ceremony of a massive R2.4bn Ashburton Interchange Project in Msunduzi Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The Premier of KZN, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, will also be in attendance at this ceremony.

The Ashburton Interchange is part of the larger N2 and N3 Upgrade programme to bolster the capacity of the North-South corridor.  The project will improve the seamless movement of cargo from the Port of Durban to the rest of the country and the SADC region.

The Minister is also expected to undertake a site inspection, engage with contractor beneficiaries and also address stakeholders whose lives will be positively changed by this project.
