Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga hands over revamped rehabilitation centre in Alexandra, 17 Nov

Transport Minister and RAF hand over renovated rehabilitation centre and accident and emergency unit in Alexandra

The Minister of Transport Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga, together with Road Accident Fund (RAF) Executives and Board members, will hand over a revamped Rehabilitation Centre and Accident & Emergency Unit to the Alexandra Community Health Centre (Masakhane Clinic) on Friday, 17 November 2023.

On Mandela Day, 18 July 2023, RAF CEO Collins Letsoalo made a pledge that the Fund would renovate the Rehabilitation Centre, as well as the Accident and Emergency Unit of the clinic. The pledge was prompted by the poor state of the facility (both interior and exterior) and the poor equipment used by recovering road accident victims at the time of the visit.

The RAF, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) division, facilitated the renovations, with both facilities receiving state-of-the-art medical equipment. The donation is one of many RAF programmes aimed at contributing towards re-integrating people with disabilities back into society after life changing car accidents.

The upgrading of the Alexandra Community Health Centre’s facilities and other rehabilitation centres was funded through the RAF’s CSR unit, in partnership with various Non-Governmental Organisations.

The details of Minister’s handover of the renovated facilities are as follows:
Date: Friday, 17 November 2023
