Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga and Deputy Minister Mmapaseka Steve Letsike deliver 2024/25 Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Dept Budget Vote, 12 Jul

The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) table its Budget Vote 2024.
 
The Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga and Deputy Minister Mmapaseka Steve Letsike will on Friday 12July 2024 deliver the DWYPD Budget Vote. 
 
The Minister will outline the steps taken towards leading socio-economic empowerment and transformation of women, youth and persons with disabilities to overcome the triple challenges of inequality, unemployment and poverty, which are the breeding grounds for Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. 
 
With the acts of Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), continuing unabated and the President's approval of the National Council on GBVF (NCGBVF) Act, there is an urgent need to set up the National Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. 
 
Empowerment of young people is at the heart of the department’s strategic objectives, through the socio-economic empowerment of young people, Minister Chikunga will equally outline plans in place to accelerate efforts to advance the National Youth Service. The programme will be delivered through the South African National Service Institute – SANSI.
