Minister Senzo Mchunu provides updates on water supply challenges to communities of Verulam, Phoenix and Tongaat, 4 Feb

Following the water supply challenges in areas under the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, particularly in Verulam, Phoenix and Tongaat, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr Senzo Mchunu, will meet with residents from these areas to provide updates on measures aimed at resolving the challenges. 

In a detailed joint statement issued on the 26th of January 2024, the Department of Water and Sanitation, the City of eThekwini as well as uMngeni-uThukela Water outlined current and future measures to be implemented to address the continuous water supply challenges which continue to plague the city, exacerbated by adverse weather conditions such as heavy rains.

Minister Mchunu, together with the Executive Mayor of eThekwini, Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda, will address residents of Verulam, Phoenix and Tongaat, and provide a progress report on measures to restore water supply.
