The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu will meet Elangeni and Northern AmaMpondomise Traditional Councils on Monday 13 November 2023 in Sqhungqwini Village, Tsolo to discuss the Mzimvubu water project.
Minister Mchunu, accompanied by Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Judith Tshabalala will meet with the leadership of the Eastern Cape led by Premier Oscar Mabuyane as well as the two affected local municipalities, i.e. Mhlontlo and Elundini and three districts, i.e. O.R Tambo, Alfred Nzo and Joe Gqabi to give account of the work done thus far and what will follow.
The Department of Water and Sanitation’s (DWS) Construction Unit is currently finalizing the first phase of the project which is the construction of the access road to the project site that is 90% complete. The second phase of the Mzimvubu Water Project will be the construction of Ntabelanga Dam which will be starting soon.
The delegation will also visit the dam wall site of the project.
