This evening, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senzeni Zokwana and his deputy, Mr Bheki Cele will attend a talent incubator for students and the agriculture sector at the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) World Forum.
The event will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 18h00 to 21h00. Minister Zokwana will give an address under the Forum's theme "People Feed the World/The Talent Factor" and will speak about how agriculture will create opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
Africa’s agriculture and agribusiness has been propelled to the top of the world’s economic and development agendas. The heightened attention on agriculture and agribusiness in Africa is based on the fact that the enormous growth potential of agriculture in Africa hinges on expanding the capacity of agriculture and agribusiness industries. This capacity can be built by identifying and supporting talent, which is key to unlocking the latent potential of agribusiness globally.
Apart from being an incubator for students, IFAMA also facilitates business-student interactions, networking opportunities, mentorship and internship possibilities and promotes food and agribusiness as an industry of choice by bringing new talent to its members.
The Forum has been running from June 16 to 19th 2014 in Cape Town. It will also host a pan-African trade fair featuring important businesses representing the value chain of food and agribusiness on the continent.
The symposium portion of the conference will feature two days of research-based presentations from international scholars on topics addressing the global food system.
