Minister Ronald Lamola announces inmate matric results for the 2020 academic year, 25 Feb

 
The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, will on Thursday, 25 February 2021, announce the inmate matric results for the 2020 academic year at Leeuwkop Correctional Centre, Gauteng province.
 
One of the pillars of effective rehabilitation for inmates is education.  For inmates to take responsibility for their future, their time behind bars must be purposeful, hence DCS has intentionally made education a mainstay of rehabilitation. This should arm inmates with relevant skills in order to unlock their potential and enable them to become invaluable assets upon release.
 
The Department of Correctional Services has not only increased the number of matriculants, but the quality of results has been increasing over the years. The 2019 matric class of inmates recorded a 82.6% pass rate, and six schools achieved a 100% pass rate. Minister Lamola will announce the pass percentage achieved by DCS schools in 2020, the best inmate matriculant and best performing schools for the academic year.
