Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa to visit Daveyton tomorrow

The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa will visit Daveyton tomorrow, where he will hold meetings with different community structures including Community Policing Forums, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), youth formations, civic organisations, including interfaith organisations.

During the visit to the area, the Minister will also visit the family of the late Mr Mido Macia where he will personally convey his condolences to the family.  Furthermore, he will hold discussions with the Daveyton police management and personnel to discuss and find solutions to some of the current policing challenges including tensions which have been experienced in the wake of the unfortunate death of Mr Macia.  Partnerships between police and communities are vital in the fight against crime as such where there are challenges, we need to mend and strengthen such cooperation.

The Minister will be joined by the Gauteng South African Police Service (SAPS) Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mzwandile Petros, his provincial management team, various SAPS Cluster Commanders and Station Commanders from the area.  The first engagement will be a community meeting, followed by a visit to the family and a meeting with local police afterwards.
