Minister Peters officially opens Thaba Nchu Interchange and overpass on N8

Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters will officially open the new Thaba Nchu interchange and overpass on the N8 in the Mangaung Metro Municipality on Saturday, 23 August 2014.

The Minister will be joined during the opening of the interchange, Pedestrian Bridge and overpass by both Free State province Premier Hon.Ace Magashule and MEC for Police, Roads and Transport Hon. Butana Komphela and, CEOs and HOD’s of Transport Agencies as well as key stakeholders in the transport sector.

The N8 between Bloemfontein and the Maseru border post, passes through the Southern outskirts of Thaba Nchu, approximately 65km east of Bloemfontein. This portion of the N8 was proclaimed a national route in April 2003 and the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) assumed responsibility.

During the construction of the interchange and overpass, 157 local people, including site staff, were employed contributing to the creation of jobs in the province.

Department of Transport spent more than R100 million on the project.
