Minister Majodina to host Webinar to track progress on the implementation of the 2025 Water and Sanitation Indaba Resolutions to address water challenges
The Water and Sanitation Minister, Pemmy Majodina together with Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Sello Seitlholo will on Friday, 10 April 2026, lead a webinar to track progress on implementation of the High-Level Declaration and Resolutions taken at the National Water and Sanitation Indaba held last year.
The Webinar seeks to assess progress on the implementation of the resolutions taken during the 2025 Indaba to address water security challenges and reverse the decline in water services provision in the country.
Last year’s gathering, held in March 2025 in Gallagher Estate, Midrand, brought together national government and entities, provincial government, local government, the South African Local Government Association, the private sector, and water and sanitation experts under one roof to seek consensus on measures to address South Africa’s water security and provision challenges.
The gathering emerged with resolutions on delivery and implementation models; and resolutions related to increasing investment through financing options and ensuring the financial viability of the sector; enhancing and strengthening technical and operational capacity and efficiency; building partnerships through building water sensitive and resilient communities, as well as fighting criminality and corruption in the water and sanitation sector to turn around the sector and ensure reliable and sustainable water and sanitation services for all citizens.
The Webinar will, therefore, provide a platform to track progress in the implementation of the commitments made during the 2025 Water and Sanitation Indaba by all role players. It will also set the tone for continuous monitoring and support through a structured national follow-up mechanism to support municipalities on the agreed resolutions, enable coordinated interventions and reinforce accountability.
