Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana will pay a visit to the family of Duduzile Zozo in Thokoza post the rape and murder in the East Rand and also hold a consultative meeting with the LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) community and hold a prayer service with the Faith based organisations in the area.
This visit is due to take place on Orange day, the 25th; a day dedicated to a UNiTE to end Violence against Women Campaign as declared by the United Nations Secretary General.
The nature of the rape and murder is alleged to have been due to her sexual orientation. The department has noted the rise in hate crimes on the LGBTI community. The Minister will be accompanied by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, representatives of LGBTI organisations and Faith Based Organisations.
