The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, will address an International Conference on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine this evening at the Pretoria Campus of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
TUT's Department of Biomedical Sciences will be hosting the conference from 27 to 31 August 2014, bringing together distinguished clinicians and scientists from around the world.
Tissue engineering is the science of designing and manufacturing new tissues for the functional restoration of impaired organs and the replacement of parts lost due to cancer, disease or trauma.
The five-day conference will include discussions on topics from basic studies to translational efforts and clinical trials. One of the speakers is Prof. A Hari Reddi of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Davis.
