Minister Noxolo Kiviet visits Lebombo border in Mpumalanga, 11 Jan

Minister Kiviet Kicks off the 2024 “Leave No One Behind” Service Delivery Outreach Programme at the Lebombo Border post

The Minister for the Public Service Administration and Administration, Ms Noxolo Kiviet, is set to visit the Lebombo border in Mpumalanga on 11 January 2024 to mark the start of the 2024 outreach and stakeholder engagement calendar under the government theme “Leave No One Behind”.  

On the Lebombo leg of the visit, Minister Kiviet will be joined by the Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Dr Chana Pilane-Majake, Deputy Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Maj Gen.(rtd) David Chilembe and other law enforcement officials operating at the Lebombo port of entry. 

Officially launched in October 2023, the BMA is a Schedule 3A entity responsible for facilitating and managing the legitimate movement of people and goods across South Africa’s 72 ports of entry. 

The outreach and engagement visit will allow the Ministry of the Public Service and Administration to acquaint themselves with the day-to-day work at the Lebombo border post through exposure to the following operational areas: 

  • Pedestrian Office 
  • Main port
  • Cargo By-pass
  • Borderline
  • Stop & Search (main gate)
  • KM 7
