Following the unfortunate incident of six (6) children that were swept away by the strong river current as they were making their way across from school in March this year, the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula subsequently sent a team of South African Army Engineers to Matatiele to do an assessment where the incident happened to determine what could be done to assist that community. The Minister has since received an assessment report from the engineers as to what needs to be done to aid the Pontseng Community.

The Minister will visit Matatiele on Tuesday, 9 April 2019 in order to engage with community leaders and the public on the recommendations of the assessment team.
