Minister Nhleko’s engagement with Eastern Cape contractors, service providers and Port St Johns community

Public Works Minister, Nkosinathi Nhleko will on Friday kick-start his two-day provincial visit to the Eastern Cape with an information session that will among others address Radical Economic Transformation (RET) in the Construction and Property Sectors. Minister Nhleko will be accompanied by senior officials from his department, the Construction Industry Development Board and the Independent Development Trust.
 
Key issues to be addressed during the engagement with contractors and service providers include among others 30% set asides for historically marginalised groups, 30 days payments and procurement regulations reforms being implemented to accelerate and deepen transformation.

Time: 12:00-15:00.
 
The community outreach programme to be held on the second day of the provincial visit (Saturday) at the Luxolweni Hall in Port St Johns as from 11:00-13:00 will focus on maximising community benefit in the Small Harbours and Coastal Properties Programme that is part of the Operation Phakisa: Oceans Economy.
 
The engagement with community members will be preceded by a meeting with Amakhosi that will commence at 9:30-11:00
