The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will undertake a District Development Model (DDM) working visit to the Ilembe District Municipality from 17 to 20 November 2020.
Minister Dlamini Zuma’s visit is part of the CoGTA mandate and the implementation of section 154 of the Constitution.
This visit will include engagements with the leadership of the district and local municipalities on the state of Ilembe municipalities, in respect of service delivery, Covid-19 and GBVF response plan.
The visit will culminate in the reimagination of Ilembe by exploiting its endowments in line with the economic reconstruction and recovery plan. The visit will also include the inauguration of the Ilembe District Development Forum which brings multisectoral partners including traditional leaders, business, youth, women, persons with disabilities and civil society organisations together in pursuit of a social compact for development.
The visit by Minister Dlamini Zuma to the District gives practical expression to the injunction of strengthening the capacity of municipalities to be able to carry out their functions.
