Minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi officiate National Wreath-Laying ceremony and launch 2015 festive season road safety campaign, 26 Nov

The Acting Minister of Transport, Adv. Ngoako Ramatlhodi, will officiate the National Wreath-Laying Ceremony and launch the 2015 festive season road safety campaign that will be held at the Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Police Training College in Pretoria West on Thursday, 26 November 2015.

Thursday’s wreath-laying ceremony will be held to remember all traffic and metro officers who died in the line of duty this year. A total of 18 Traffic Officers died in the line of duty in the past year and a wreath will be laid in remembrance of each one of them. A commemorative plaque has been erected at the Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Police Training College with the name of all officers who have died in the line of duty.

More than 300 officers have been honoured in this manner from the inception of this recognition ceremony in 1993.

MECs for community safety and liaison/Transport, law enforcement officers, non-governmental organisations that specialise in public transport, youth road safety programmes and other sectors with an interest in road safety will form part of the event.

The ceremony will immediately be followed by the launch of the 2015 festive season road safety campaign.
