Minister Ndebele convenes over 30 Minister's of Africa

Correctional Services has a number of key activities and events that people of South Africa need to know.  You are therefore requested to cover these events.

These events include:
1. A meeting of African Correctional Services Association (ACSA) Executive Committee led my Acting National Commissioner Nontsikelelo Jolingana – as South Africa is holding the seat of Chairperson of ACSA:
Venue: Velmore - Centurion 
Date: 2 April 2014
Time: 9h00

NB:  The first session with Acting National Commissioner’s Opening remarks is open for media coverage.

2. A meeting of the Core Members Council (CMC) of ACSA attended by all Heads of Correctional / Prison Services in over 30 member states of ACSA will be attending the meeting that will be chaired by the Acting National Commissioner Nontsikelelo Jolingana.

Date: 3 April 2014
Time: 09:00 (Whole Day - not open to the media) 

3. A Ministerial Consultative Forum (MCF) of over 30 Ministers that are responsible for Corrections / Prisons in Africa, convened by Minister Sibusiso Ndebele over two days 3-4 April 2014. 

The MCF is expected to discuss a range of issues bedevilling corrections and prisons in the continent including overcrowding, offender transfers, funding, transformation of prisons in line with international and African conventions, protocols and bilateral agreements.

The meeting of Ministers includes the following activities: 

Formal Meeting of Ministers:
Venue: Velmore - Centurion 
Date: 3 April 2014 (Morning Session is open for media presence as Minister Ndebele will address the session).

On 04 April 2014, Minister Ndebele will lead a tour of Leeuwkop Correctional Centre by all ACSA Ministers, sign a number of MOUs and address the Media at the end of the MCF field trip. The media is welcome to join the field trip. 

NB: All media wishing to join the tour must report at Leeuwkop Correctional Centre by 8h30 on the 4 April 2014 for accreditation and briefing before the start of Minister's tour.
