Minister Nathi Mthethwa visits Vuwiselo Victim Empowerment Programme Centre in Mpumalanga, 5 Apr

Minister Nathi Mthethwa pays a special visit to Vuwiselo Victim Empowerment Programme Centre, Acornhoek 

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, will on Friday, 05 April 2019 handover clothes, furnisher and other gifts to Vuwiselo Victim Empowerment Programme Centre, in Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga Province.

The event is a follow-up to the Ministerial Imbizo on Gender Based Violence (GBV) held on 23 November 2018 at Acornhoek. The Imbizo was aimed at addressing and finding shared solutions to key societal issues of concern to our citizens – violence against women and children, poverty, unemployment, inequality, gangsterism, drug abuse, and poor service delivery among others.

Accompanied by the Mpumalanga MEC for the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ms Blessing Thandi Shongwe; and the MEC for Social Development, Ms Busisiwe Shiba; the Minister will also pay a special visit to two families of the victims for Gender Based Violence for the handover of clothes and toys.

These  visits also serve as platform for the Government and the community to reflect, and recommit to principles and values of building a nation bound by a common destiny as 2019 also marks 25 years of Freedom.
